About Me

Hello, my name is Sam, and I’ve been teaching maths for seven years. I trained to be a maths teacher at Kingston University (London), teaching primary school children. Since then I have been head of maths in a middle school, and then I was head of KS3 maths at a secondary school before going on maternity leave. I have recently returned part-time to my school, Samuel Ward Academy. I thoroughly enjoy one-to-one teaching, and that is why I am offering tuition.

If you or your child needs help with SATs, the Common Entrance Exam (CE), or GCSE confidence, or if you just want to improve your maths knowledge, I can help. I particularly enjoy teaching those who find maths difficult or uninteresting, and I use a number of strategy games and activities to add variety and to help teach times tables, problem solving and other vital skills. I have a variety of resources to aid mental maths practice, exam question technique and using maths in the real world.

I am currently very busy with students and cannot take on any more at the moment. However, this may change and if you’d like to discuss anything, please feel free to contact me. I am based in East Cambridge (UK).
